LogMeIn
I wanted to tell you about some tools that I use daily. Remote control of client’s PC is the best way to provide to end users. I have found that the suite of products of LogMeIn including their LogMeIn Rescue product allows me to connect to users machines without having to preinstall anything. The uers can make a connection to the logmein site and then enter a PIN number that I provide them. Within minutes you are connected and able to remote controll their machines, transfer files, access system events logs, even reboot.
If you need remote control to your clients machines or your own machines you should try logmein.com

Another service that works without pre-installation and I must also mention is a fraction of the price of LogMeIn is Techinline (www.techinline.com). All your client has to do is open a page in their browser, get a number which they tell you, you enter the number and that’s it. My clients find it very easy and it’s fully customizable which is another advantage. Obviously LogMeIn has more features, but if you’re looking for something that’s easy to use and reasonably priced, it’s probably a better choice

I am going to take a look at that. The logmein rescue monthly charge is cheap compared to getting in the car and driving to the clients but cheaper could be better.
I will give it shot and post here how it goes.

The techline.com product looks attractive but does not appear to have support for Macs. This is a bit of a problem for me. The price is right it may just not be for me.
It appears that James T, who posted above, is affiliated with techlines.com. I have found a number of postings that were nearly identical from him on other forums. I did exchange email with him but it would have been more ethical if he simply shared that up front.
I hope that he posts back in here and clears this up.

I have heard from James T and he is alliliated with techline.com. I have installed the product and it appears to work well. I have not been able to put it through its paces or to access any risks with it. It does appear to be a viable alternative for a remote support solution.
